IF build.. what should I do?
Bought the following frame from fellow PL member Duane (thanks).
It arrives soon. Not an unlimited budget, but mid-tier components would be fine. Presume mechanical, otherwise it would be sram wireless which is seems like overkill and I have it on 2 other bikes. Haven't had campy in a long time; if I went that way maybe 10-speed? I *could* use Ultegra that I have on-hand and existing wheel set OR I could just build from scratch. Ideas for the *ideal* build are welcome. What would you do? Chris King headset? Traditional lacing on wheels. Any other IF Jewel owners? Help... Frame by JW, on Flickr

Silver 10 would rock that frame, IMO. Congrats!

Edit: That frame could also look good with a full black build kit. Chorus 12, Zonda wheels, and some alloy deda bits would be a pretty simple way to make a killer bike. Is that a 1in steerer? Last edited by thirdgenbird; 06-08-2020 at 10:36 PM. |

I like these ideas... What about Praxis crank?
Link or pictures of the Nitto? Do you have experience with Centaur? Not too expensive. Is it the equivalent of Ultegra or 105? https://www.bike24.com/p2243638.html...olo%20groupset Sad truth is how good it looks will influence how much I ride it, so trying to come up with a config that will make it come off the hook before the other choices.. even thought about CX gears and flat bars.. Not sure how big a wheel I can put on there.. Anyone know? Quote:

I think praxis cranks look pretty sweet. Cheap too but I haven’t owned one. I could get behind a black centaur group with praxis cranks.
If flat bar, you could go totally left field and use the TRP 1x12 with a praxis crank. Actually, you could do TRP brakes and basically build a full praxis/TRP bike Last edited by thirdgenbird; 06-08-2020 at 10:40 PM. |

I have a Silver White Industries Campy 11 to TB-14 Hard Anodized Wheelset that would be PERFECT on this frame.

Uses... not 100% sure
SF is hilly and I have plastic bikes with light parts for those rides.
I live at the very top of a 500' hill, so gears are required. 34x28 minimum, more probably better for making easy work of getting up the hill without getting too sweaty. I could even see a 1x12. Depending on what the frame can handle, I could see wider tires. Not sure this bike is a long-timer, but the frame was priced well and it's well made; fun to try new things. This is more for fun and puttering around town, riding to the park with family

Campy 9-speed triple?
I do have a campy 9-speed triple groupset in a box... maybe that would be a good old school look with the matching wheelset.. I'll have to find that box.
