Another %$&@! ebay dumbass policy

I made a Best Offer on an item, and now ebay makes you set up the payment which I did via Paypal. Then, when the seller accepted the offer, instead of converting that to the payment, they take me through the whole payment process again. My Paypal account now shows two identical pending payments, one when I made the offer, one when it was accepted and they sent the Finish Your Purchase email. At the moment, Paypal only has one pending charge to my credit card.

Before this, there was no payment activity until the seller accepted the offer.

That does not seem correct to me. I think eBay has an office full of programmers sitting around justifying their jobs by making changes to what works perfectly well as is. have seen it several times particularly with sort and search functions. That being said I also think eBay is trying to distance themselves from PayPal to capture more income through some of the fees PayPal is garnering.

Or they are dealing with what is now a 20 year old code base, lots of land mines.
