Campy Front derailleur cage replacement

What is the secret to preloading the spring when changing out the cage with a new one.
I got everything apart with no issues but am struggling to get the spring preloaded to put the pin through the assembly.

I use a small metal tube that goes over the end of the spring, loading it, then pushing the pin back thru..but still really hard. Campag NA has a rig to do this more easily..if you send it to them, they will do it..ask for Dan Large...'modern' front der?

Yeah, its a 2010 model year. I like the idea of the tube. The tab of the spring is small and nothing really grabs it without marking it. I have a few small sections of SS tubing in my tool box I use on the end of allen keys which would work.

Thanks
