Has anyone used a Wolf Tooth road link to expand cassette range on Campy?

Has anyone used a Wolf Tooth road link to expand cassette range on Campy?

I'm looking to run a 32 or even 34 on a Super Record 11 RD. Max recommended is 29T, but I've heard you can go bigger with the drop link.

Just a note. The WolfLink does lower the top pulley to reduce the possibility of biggest cog to pulley interference BUT it doesn't add chain length so you still need enough chain for a safe big-big combo.

BUT, with proper chain length, I think a 32t, even w/o a Wolflink, would be no problem.

It all boils down to the derailleurs chain wrap capacity not the hanger length.

I run one on a 52/39, 11-32 setup with a short cage. Works fine

I doubt he'll clear the 34 without a link.

Which model year Super Record 11spd derailleur is it? If it currently is only rated for a 29 tooth sprocket, then it sounds like it is a short cage derailleur, in which case you can likely retrofit the derailleur with a medium cage, which should work with with a 32 tooth sprocket, and likely will work with a 34 tooth sprocket as well.

Yes. On EPS even. The good-it works and will get you a 32. The bad-you'll need to make the chain long enough that its overly slack should you shift into the 34-11. I never do that, so its a much more acceptable risk than ripping off the cage by having the chain shorter but accidentally hitting the 50/32.
Will shifting degrade slightly? Maybe. And Campy will tell you that the geometry of this exceeds what stresses the derailleur was designed for. That could be true, but I have a bunch of bikes in regular circulation and figure each one gets much less wear than if I had one that got used 90% of the time.

BTW, if you're not morally adverse to aliexpress parts, there are links available from ztto for $6 as opposed to 30. Look at the pics though, other ones available are really for mtb use and are a little longer. ZTTO has one that is roadlink length.

As to whether you can get a 32 without-maybe. I had to use the link as EPS lacks a b screw. I experimented with various spacers on the der hanger but could never totally get rid of upper pulley interference. Your mileage may vary. I don't know that the longer cage will help if you have upper jockey interference. It adds wrap capacity but I believe the upper pulley is still in same location.

Thanks for all the responses. It's the pre-15 SR11 RD / Short Cage. I know they can be retrofitted to medium cage but if you can even find the replacement cage they are almost as must as a post-15 medium cage entire derailleur. Not easy to find an aftermarket cage for these - I think ceramispeed makes one but they are spendy. I was planning to lengthen the chain and am aware of the cross chain / chain wrap limitations. I run a Shimano freehub to expand my cassette options and that has always worked just fine on my current setup 50/34T to 11-28T.

I tried a Wolf Tooth with EPS 11 Record and a 12-32 cassette, 50/34 crank. It did not shift well.

There are two versions of the replacement medium cage, which only differ by the the included derailleur pulleys: RD-SR102M with Super Record pulleys, and RD-RE102M with Record/Chorus pulleys. The pulleys are interchangeable, so you can move your current Super Record Pulleys to an RD-RE102M. The RD-RE102M version is still available from several sources, like this one:

I was going back and forth researching how to fit a 32 tooth cog (Shimano) with Record 11 RD, 52/36 up front and finally just tried it. Not at all a problem for me with just under 75 miles yesterday. Everything works the same as with a 29 tooth that was there before. 29 is normally fine, but I have some longer rides coming up with a lot of climbing.

I run a Shimano 32-tooth cassette with Record 11 speed short cage rear and 50/34 up front. And a slightly longer chain.

I've also run a 36-tooth cassette with a Road Link and longer chain. Shifting is about the same.

Re:

Yes. I have 1st gen Campy Record 11 on my Stelbel with a short cage derailleur. I put a 30 tooth cog on the back and added the Wolf link when it wouldn't clear. No problem after that.

I'm fairly certain that if you do such a thing an alarm goes off and you get an immediate call from the Vatican.
