What an interesting Serotta

This is an interesting one that popped up on ebay.

i've never seen these campagnolo details. that fork is too cool too with the S on one side of the crown and the campy shield on the other. This would be a sweet bike to hop on for neutral service during a race, probably an upgrade for whatever else they were riding at the time!

This bike probably has some stories to tell!

This bike is ready for immediate use. Just passed our multipoint inspection, everything is tuned up and ready to ride. This bike is manufactured buy Serotta but branded Campagnolo. It was originally a Campagnolo USA "neutral service bike". It features Columbus SL tubing, chrome Serrotta fork with Campy crown, Record groupset with Delta brakes, Record Strada tubular rims with sew up tires, Cinelli bars and stem, Regal saddle, Campy Q.R. Seat post binder.

Bike is in very good condition with original paint and original Campagnolo “alphabet” decals.

This bike was custom built by Ben Serrotta for the Campagnolo Tech Support Program run by Jim Ingram in 1989. It was used in every major pro and amateur US cycling event that Campy covered from 1989 until the program ended in 1991. Coors Classic, US Pro, Tour of Texas, Redlands, Long Beach, Women’s Challenge and a number of other national events.

I just sent it over to Jim Ingram to see if he recognizes it. Hopefully I had his E mail address right.

Jim Ingram....He ran the Campagnolo Tech support crew and drove the station wagon at the races during that time. He's mentioned in your original post. Or in the ad. He lives here. Old dude now....like me. Used to ride with him some back in the 70's.

If you happen to see a recording of one of those old races...Red Zinger, Morgal Bismark, Coors Classic, etc...and saw the Campagnolo tech support station wagon with bikes all over it......well....Jim was driving it.

That is the first Serrota I have ever thought I wouldn't mind getting. It's my size too.

Very cool. Would be all over it if the tt/st dimensions were reversed.

in the true spirit of a neutral support bike, it's even better if it only "kinda" fits right?

I used to have one and indeed is is a neutral service bike. I really liked the details on the frame but could never shrink enough to fit on it. I sold it here about 3-4 years back (edit: Oh man, am I getting old. It was 7 years ago) as a frameset. They are very cool.

I used to ride with a guy in Boston in the early 90's who had a blue and white frame like that, Richard was his name I believe.
