Go to source for handlebar tape?
Hey...
Who is your current go to source for handlebar tape? All of my typical online sellers have pretty limited selections and many of the options are north of $50 !! I'm a simple man, with simple objectives, but sometimes when I wrap my bars I totally eff the job up, and have to resort to a second package. That's not an option if the tape costs more than $50. Just looking for perforated tape that's not too thick and comes in white, red and sky blue. Thanks for your suggestions. |

Doesn't get any more basic than Cinelli Cork tape for $15 a roll.

The OP asked for perforated tape, so the Cinelli is out, but for a cheap tape it works fine (just don't expect it to survive a crash without ripping.)
I think the Fizik is the cheapest good perforated tape you can get, and it is generally a good value - but a quick glance around show that prices are a lot higher than when I bought it last. But it's good tape, I liked mine.l for sure the one time I used it. I personally prefer to buy the cheap crap and replace it once a year, but that's just me! Cinelli is fine for that. |

Modernbike.com lists more brands than I've seen elsewhere, but in perforated, there's not much. I quit buying Deda tape because they changed the adhesive to a much stronger type that doesn't permit repositioning or reuse. I just bought a roll of Easton and SRAM tape. Both look to have a more friendly adhesive, but no perforations.

Forum sponsor BikeTiresDirect has the Fizik Bondcush stuff for 31$/roll. This is nice quality perforated tape available in many colors. BTD is a reliable source and helps support the forum, so they are a good choice to buy bar tape IMO

I don't like most of the new tapes I have tried--I feel like the Princess and the Pea--most are too thick, or don't have that little bit of give like the old Cinelli, or they are slippery, or they are weirdly too thin on the edges and built up in the middle. And I'm sorry-- $30+ dollars for a wear item seems steep to me--especially if I hate it when it's on. I'd love to get a box of various brands as scraps, and try wrapping to see if there is a brand that I like--until then, I'm still using the last of my retro-grouch stash of Splash tape... |
