How to get the Di2 battery to stay in the seatpost???

Hello, everyone. I have Shimano Ultegra Di2 8000 on my road bike, and the battery is installed in the seatpost. I just can't get it to stay in there. It's driving me crazy.

I installed teflon tape around the area where it sort of goes in there, but that only keeps it in for a few hundred miles. Inevitably, I hit a bump and the thing pops out, and then it rattles in the seat tube for the rest of the ride, and I have to take out the seatpost and turn the bike upside down and shake it until the battery comes out.

Not ideal!!

I tried putting some electrical tape around the battery edge, but that was too fat and didn't fit in the seat tube.

Any tips on this??? Help!

Have you tried one of the multitude of Di2 seatpost battery mounts?

Never had this issue, however carpet or double sided tape will likely solve your problem, Teflon is generally used to help things slide.

Handle bar tape works great.

As far as I can tell, one of those mounty things is already on there.

I just re-installed everything, so I can't take a picture now. It would have been smart to do so when everything was apart.

I will take a picture next time I have to reinstall the darn thing.

I have been known to wrap bubble wrap around it (depending on how thick the bubble wrap is determines how many circles around the battery I do but make it just a wee bit fatter than the inside of the seat tube) then circled in tape. Oh, key thing (as you will have the opposite problem of what you have now) is to also but some twine/string in a U shape over the battery with the two tails dangling below the battery so that you can pull it out if you ever need to.

+1

bubble wrap or copious amount of electrical tape wrapped around the battery.

I use fishing line tied around battery to allow me to pull it out if need be.

DO NOT use something you can't pull back out easily.. the Di2 batteries have pretty fragile cases ---- ask me how I know

Also, batteries need to breathe (I think) so I wrap them in some tacky bar tape in two spots and call it good -- leaving enough battery sticking out of the bottom of the post to pull it out if needed.
