Sorry to say, this seems horribly disjointed. Not sure what this author was going for here; even the opening story of a top-of-the-world training ride in paradise seems forced. Wish he'd presented an actual interview, because Tyler is thoughtful and interesting. This takes the concept of "burying the lead" to a whole new level. I hear next month he is going to "interview" Peter Sagan & write the story in haiku.
Not to turn this into a full-fledged book review, but I just read some of the author's other stuff, and really liked some of it. Weird. |

The same year Hamilton and his Rock Racing teammates were criticised by a prominent rider at another US race. ‘These guys shouldn’t be at the event’ the athlete told the press, pointing out that Hamilton’s and several of his teammates had been involved in Operacion Puerto. Hamilton was at the race but wasn’t racing. During the next stage several of the Rock riders circled behind the offending rider. ‘Hey Luigi’ they heckled. ‘Luigi, **** you.’ Luigi was of course the rider’s Puerto code name. Only Luigi had never been caught and never been sanctioned. Luigi is Fabian Cancellara. |
