Strava - Removing Followers

Does anyone know if removing a follower on Strava notifies the follower that they have in fact been removed from following you?

No, it does not.

If you would like proof, feel free to follow me and I will remove you and you won't see any kind of notification: https://www.strava.com/athletes/336319

Strava Following

JK - thanks for the quick response. I will in fact follow you as a test.
So will the former follower effectively think "man, Oaklandhills doesnt ride anymore."?

Yes. It'll appear as though you don't ride. But, I mean, if they search you out then they'll see that they no longer follow you as they'll again have the ability to follow you. If you don't want them to be able to find you at all then you'd have to block them.

I just accepted your request and subsequently removed you from following me.

Here's what you see when you remove a follower.

Strava Followers

Angry - I hear you. I get some random followers that I don't know, don't really care to share data with and am wondering if I am losing my mind of meeting folks on a ride and saying "follow me on Strava". There is something to be said for old school.

I agree on the random follower aspect - but when riding in new areas or just out and about locally, in non-COVID times, I'm a pretty friendly chap on the bike and have struck up riding friendships with a number of folks - saying cheers and "look for me on Strava" before parting ways at an intersection has lead to an expanded riding network - and that's generally been a positive thing.. much easier than exchanging numbers or email addresses.

I can't even fathom why people leave transactions public.

I'll second that - somehow Venmo imported all my work contacts off my phone and now I see people I barely know sending money and memes back and forth - and can't figure out how to delete them..

Laziness. There is an option to make transactions private, but the default is having them public. Just like when you order something online, they automatically add you to their mailing list unless you opt out.
