How should I deal with scammer

So long story- My son purchased a set of Zipp 303 disc wheels from someone claiming to be in Texas. Story-The seller posted them in a SC classified Facebook Marketplace Group. When my son asked about meeting in SC, the seller then said he was no longer in SC but now in Texas. So my son, thinking he was getting a smoking deal, asked if seller would ship. They agreed on purchase price plus shipping and my son sent payment through Venmo but flagged it as a goods and service purchase. Seller sent tracking number but never sent package. After a week but son did some searching and found the seller was fake. Multiple posts about him being a scam. My son contacted Venmo and requested a refund. After 3-4 days Venmo credited him his payment. While my son was waiting for refund, I contacted seller pretending to be interested in purchasing the wheels and he said they were still available and he would be willing to ship. I really love to get this busted by law enforcement but I have a feeling the local police won't really do much about it. So here is my question. What should I do with the seller? I have already reported his post and his account as fraudulent. His post has been removed but "his" facebook account is still active and I have been messaging him. Should I attempt to contact local PD? Should I continue to string him along? Should I just drop it and move on? I hate these type of people.

For those interested-his Facebook account is Bobby Edenfield from Wyoming but he claims he lives in Prarie View Texas.

Your son got his money back and you reported the scammer to the proper places.

You are done.

Props to your son for being smart and sending the payment goods and services.

Walk away. Your son inevitably learned a lesson, and he came out on top.

I wonder how long it will be before someone builds a service like Jolly Roger Telephone Co using ChatGPT.

It's hard to tell if he is actually who he claims to be. Do you know anyone who knows Bobby personally?

I wouldn't at all be surprised if he is overseas and has created a fake FB profile. It's quite prevalent.

There doesn't seem to be much more you can reasonably do.

Let it go.
