Advice needed on narrow (36-38cm) dropbars with a long "flat" at the bottom
More track bike stuff...
I've got a set of cheap 38cm bars on right now, and I like the width but the drop shape sucks. it's too much consistent curve with a very short "end" at the bottom. So there's not a nice flat platform for my hands. I'm constantly adjusting to one bit of the curve or another. Without spending $300-400... what road dropbars are out there with a nice long flat-ish end to the drops? Soma highway one looks close. And I have a 42cm set of FSA Gossamer bars that are nice for me, but I can't find them again in a 38. Seems like FSA Gossamer could mean anything by FSA sometimes... Soma Portola would be perfect, except it's a 56cm offroad bar... :| Last edited by BRad704; 05-24-2024 at 05:51 PM. |

Easton EC90 SLX with the MCD drop shape. Available in 38cm.

They're a compact short reach and drop with quite a bit of flare, but the Dixna Cross Bandy 2 has a nice long bottom length. Currently have the v1 on a a bike.

Go narrower.
There's a pair of Worx bars for sale in the classifieds that I'm having to convince myself to not buy, but $100 shipped is real hard to pass up. https://forums.thepaceline.net/showthread.php?t=306879 https://worxbikes.com/product/worx-handlebars/ |

Great idea and I love Easton carbon products. But that's getting into the price range where I'd just splurge on fancy track bars.

I think you should take the time to look at where track cyclists properly hold their bars. If you are holding on to the flats you are positioning your self for a loss of control and limiting your self from properly leveraging
your strength through the bars. You can see some good clear close up hand positioning here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvQOPtcNTvI Don't be that guy on the track that no one wants to race with!!
