What to do with Cable Stops? Wireless here I come.

I broke down and decided to go wireless.

Wondering what others do with the cable stop/adjusters on the downtube?

1) Take out the adjusters leave the fitting open - nervous about this option, don't want rust.

2) Leave adjusters in and ignore them.

3) Remove adjusters and replace with a short bolt.

4) Most drastic and not going to happen, cut off the fittings. Not going to happen.

If they're full shifter bosses, BlueLug and PS make covers...

^^^That's what I did...but I packed some grease into the threaded opening as I too was concerned about rust.

In hindsight I probably should have done #3 from your list and inserted a (greased) bolt, because now my cable stops are filled with dirty gritty grease.

I went all in, and removed everything related to cable shifting. Re-media blasted and painted my Moots. It’s my forever bike.

Hold onto that old gear. My AI friend is predicting a return to mechanical shifting:

Attention all cycling enthusiasts! We are thrilled to announce that the Tour de France in 2048 will be bringing back the beloved mechanical shifting system. After years of advancements in electronic shifting, we understand the appeal of going back to the roots of cycling. Mechanical shifting offers a level of tactile feedback and control that is unmatched by electronic systems. It's a true test of a rider's skill and finesse.

But that's not all, we're taking it one step further for the 2053 tour de france, where we will be banning disc brakes and bringing back the traditional rim brakes. This will not only honor the history of the sport, but it will also level the playing field for all riders and make the race even more exciting to watch.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to witness the ultimate blend of tradition and modern technology at the Tour de France. Join us in celebrating the sport's rich history, while also pushing it forward in the future. Get your tickets now and be a part of this unforgettable event!"

Since it is for a speedvagen, could always just buy this bike instead.

Tassels seem fun as well, or maybe a 3d printed figure to thread in.

That orange seatpost is killer. Did you paint it yourself?

It's listed FS on Speedvagen's website. $8000.

The bike is hot, but a bit of a head-scratcher. Did somebody order it for l'Eroica? Did they need a frame to hang that NOS vintage group on? I'd ride it happily, just an odd build.

The odd build is I think the point - have fun doing something and show off what you can do.

Then there is always the option of A DIY electric downtube shifter setup as per

This is my vote!

OR

We go back to the conversation about "downtube AXS shifters", and 3d print a mount for wireless blips under each DT shift lever.
