Sometimes it’s the little things

I’m not one to obsess over building a bike. I do give some thought to aesthetics, but in the end I generally build up a bike to make it effective and enjoyable to ride. Today, however, I was out on my Eisentraut, which I felt I had built well, and thought about the things that just make me happy to look at as I am riding it:
I like the way the handlebars, TIG stem, and Chorus headset play well together: subtle but with nice bit of silver to play off the black.
I like the Century group and the crisp shift feel through the all alloy shifters.
I like that I reworked the freewheel to make it virtually silent on coast.
I like seeing Albert’s name on the downtube, and like that that I know him, a bit.
Best of all, I like that all of this goes together into making a bike that is lovely to ride.

Totally get it - although I have a bit of beer in me when I look at my bikes critically like that and really get into just how nice each one is.

Lovely bike. Campagnolo steerer cap? I've only seen them in carbonio never alumino.

Some bikes just look cohesive, like one machine and that's one of them!

Funny, I made a similar post earlier this year.

I spent extra time and money to track down the black alloy Campagnolo top cap. Perfect complement to chorus 12 speed in my opinion. It was originally from centaur level headsets. Not the most common part around.

Those are such handsome photos, especially the way the wheel and spokes play against their shadows. They remind me of paintings by Robert Vickrey:

But you didn't include a shot of the whole bike! Can we get one?

Here’s plenty of shots from when I first acquired it and it’s mild transformation:
