A two sided SPD with pins for a fatbike

Hopefully I'll be riding a fattie soon. When the weather warms up I hope to ride clicked in, in the snow I'll have some form of regular insulated boot.

All the flat/SPD pedals I have seen are generally pretty tame on the flat side. Is there one that's a little grippier? A little wider? Or maybe an aftermarket pinned plate I could click into a standard SPD pedal?

Suggestions?

Thanks!

Having been down this road before, I ended up full time on flats with pins. Polymer pedals like the Race Face Chester seem to not feel quite as cold as alloy platforms. I didn’t like the single-sided SPDs because they always seemed to be on the wrong side and I found myself doing a lot of toe gymnastics to spin it to the correct side

If you do insist on clipping in for dirt rides (something my knees didn’t love with the wider Q) I would just swap pedals as the seasons change.

If you want to try something other than Shimano I use Crank Bros Mallet 3....has some grip plus dual sided entry. Works well in snow and general riding.

Agree with comment flats alone work well in the winter season

Hmm. Maybe the summer/winter pedal swap is the way to go. I imagine the wider platform could also push the Spd tension mechanism further than normal from the axle, widening the Q factor even more. Ok. Time to look for a set of RF Chesters I think! Thanks!

Shimano PD-T8000 is what you want. They also auto rotate to vertical when you take your foot off so there's no questioning which side is which.
