Shoes that allow rear cleat position
Howdy!
What shoe brands/models allow for a more rear cleat position? Are there any mods you've done to allow this short of drilling the shoes? Thanks! |

There are several adapter plates that can be used to shift the cleat rearward, often by 20mm or more. Fit Kit Systems sells several of them:

Shimano 2-bolt cleat shoes generally allow you to get the cleat pretty far back. Speedplay makes an adaptor for their cleats that let you get the clear an extra few centimeters back. I've used both, successfully, in dealing with ankle tendonitis several years ago. I've also drilled out some old mtb shoes to get the cleat way back, but that created serious toe overlap.

I've read/heard that Lakes have some of the most rearward cleat position (for a mainline shoe), without having to drill your new shoes or resort to adaptor plates (both of which seem like horrible ideas to me)..

I've found bont to be good - allows cleats to go back quite far. Sidi on the other hand I find very forward biased...

I happen to have a brand new set of the 3 hole adapters to move your cleats back if anyone needs a set.https://fitkitsystems.com/product/pa...apters-3-hole/

Been considering doing this as it was spotted by a fitter the need to move back. PM sent.
