I'm approaching the number of years since retirement that I spent in the Army, 26 years+. Next year, I'll reach that milestone. Regular Army, 1973-1999, Colonel.

Well said Peter!
More than anything I miss the people, and sense of accomplishment for some of the challenges we faced as a team in my Army career. I can go years without seeing them, meet up, and it's like we hadn't missed a day, and I've never had a group of friends that close. |

I'm closing in on that milestone too. In the Army for 22 years and about to hit 20 years out. I retire from my DoD civilian job at the end of the month. It's been a good ride!

Sort of OT. Veterans Day is also my aunt’s and godmother, same person’s, birthday. I called her and wished her a Happy 89th birthday. Her mind is as sharp is can be. Hips and knees not so great. Kind of hard to forget her birthday.

I did eight years in the 60's. Fortunately I didn't become one of the suckers and losers.

Aside from basic and tech school, I spent my USAF hitch at Hickam AFB defending the shores of Waikiki against the onrushing hordes of communists. And we won!
