The 100mm ShockStop Pro weighs 220 grams. A Cinelli Neos weighs 120 grams, as an example. I'm happy to take that 3.5 oz hit in exchange for the greater upper body comfort.

You might gain almost that much by going up a size or to in tires...

I might suggest finding a lightweight bar with compliance rather than looking for a compliant stem. There is simply more length on a handlebar to provide the compliance. Fairwheel Bikes tested a range of road bars, including many of the exotic weight weenie options, for compliance: https://www.fairwheelbikes.com/blogs...dlebar-review/

Their article also suggests carbon bars to help dampen smaller vibrations, although this particular test does not measure that property of these bars. My reading is that this test is more relevant to flex provided over bigger bumps/potholes.

Redshift et al sound wonderful...except I need a riser stem, as in 15-20 degrees, and can't seem to find anything close.

Anyone know of a dampening stem that has more than 6 degree rise?

Dang, thanks, how did I miss that? Didn't see the pic of one on Redshifts site, had to pick the drop down list to see 'em.

Thanks again

Are you running the wider tire on the frame at the lowest reasonable pressure?

Late to the game, echo the same...

I added a Redshift stem to my road bike, and it is worth every single extra gram. I have my set up to take the sting out of big hits (cracked pavement you don't see until your upon it). Yeah, it weighs more but I've never given it a moments thought other than how much less fatigued I am at the end of the ride. With 28mm tires, it makes it feel like I'm running 38mm+.
In my dream world, they'd make a cheaper OEM version to banish from this world the cursed heavy, flexy, and short lived suspension forks found on bikes under $800 bucks-ish. Plus make it easier to tune the suspension on purchase of said bikes.
