If you're open to a watch that straddles sporty and dress, take a look into the JLC Master Geographic. Iterations of that movement have been used for around 30 years in various watches from JLC, AP, and VC - it's a very well regarded movement. The newest iteration is gorgeous (

If you want an Explorer II that wears smaller, take a look at later variants of the 16570; they include a newer 3186 movement and have a no-hole case.
