Yes, only Record, with titanium pawl carrier, caused cracked FHB but they changed the Chorus and Centaur also. BUT for the OP, your wheel has an aluminum axle, and can use either the older FHB or newer FHB...both fit just fine on that 17mm oversized aluminum axle. You are fretting about nothing, IMHO.

For shimano FHB and Campagnolo hubs..the steel shimano FHB(dark colored) fits on any axle, new or old..the white, aluminum, fits onto 2006+ axles only..They changed the axle and FHB because they were solving a problem with them(splitting)...not 'just because'...
