That, plus hard anodized surfaces often have worse braking - at least until the anodize layer has been worn through, after which the rim often looks awful.
archetypes are quite stout, durable rims. i havent heard of any issues with the hard ano versions cracking. the ano versions look very nice and are a good alternative if you dont want a silver or black rim. the brake tracks hold up pretty well in my experience, and when worn, they look no worse than any other painted rim with a silver brake track. i have a set on a gravel bike (my geekhouse) and they have held up remarkably well, brake fantastically, and still look good.
