I ended up bringing another SRAM Red etap FD to a local machine shop, and they fabricated a pin for me. It's the smallest thing they could fab, a little rough on finish but that (+ 1/8" e clip - suspect that's what broke/slipped off) solved the problem.
It was a $150 fix (+$60 for the LBS bike hack that kept me on the road) but better than buying a $400 used FD on ebay.
