I must be old, because I still recall when the original Arione was debuted in the Tour, and the extra long nose was a big deal and borderline illegal, as it gave extra positions...

And, although just a bit before I got too deep into bikes, there was a version of the San Marco Concor (Sprint) saddle with a raised back that became illegal...

The article says "... introduction of shorter nose saddles that have become more popular in the pro peloton." -- are these short-nosed saddles getting popular because of how the pros seem to like descending now, with their scranuses (scranii) on the top tube, and don't want the saddle nose to poke them in the back?.. Or is there another reason for the short nose all of a sudden? And, finally, is there a version of these without the f4rt-hole in the middle?
