Thanks for the responses, they have been helpful. I'm using kool stop salmon pads, which have been awesome in every application I've tried them in so far - the feel is just off with the levers here. The current setup stops me fine, and if I hadn't experienced these brakes with the previous levers I'm sure I'd say they were great - but I know it can be better. I'm going to take Look585's suggestion and try out a set of 7900 calipers.

What an awesome forum this is - I came here with a very niche question, and get a response within half an hour from someone with first-hand experience of the exact same situation - same frame, same levers, same size tires, same brakes - this is pretty great.
