It really brings us into the very lively cycling club culture of the time, before working people in northern England could afford cars. Cycling was a way to escape on weekends into quiet country lanes away from the dismal factories and crowded homes.
Honor Blackman is appealing and spirited as the star, 15 years before she became a Bond girl. A young Diana Dors and Anthony Newley are in the film too.
It's probably the only film I'll ever see where internal cable routing is important to the plot.
