Few years ago I looked at a new tarmac and it was an in-store purchase only. No shipping. Things might have changed since?
As much a commodity as one might think it is, Spec. seems to run a pretty tight ship when it comes to controlling pricing and distribution at the retail level . They preserve brand integrity. At end of day I wasn't about to pay 5+ grand for off the shelf frame, as great a frame as it is.
Most guys I know that ride their top shelf offerings use em for a couple years then get the new ones +more often than not as team bikes). I just wait for the hand-me-downs.
