Campagnolo cleat differences

Here is a picture of two different Campagnolo Pro-fit pedal cleats. The metal engagement pieces come in different versions. I could not find different part numbers for these anywhere. Please note the shape of the metal piece near the letter C enclosed by a diamond is different on the black shoe than the green shoe. The one on the black shoe is more pointy and the green shoe more rounded.

The problem is because of the shape difference it is very difficult to release the green shoe while riding even though the pedal tension is on the lowest setting.

Can someone please help me out with a suggestion as to how to lower the release tension or purchase the metal part of the cleat with the shape of the one on the black shoe?

Why has Campagnolo done this?
