Great story, thanks for posting. Karstens also a strong contender for wearing the greatest number of iconic jerseys in the course of his career - Peugeot, Bic, Gitane-Campagnolo and TI Raleigh among them.
That last stage of the 1976 Tour surely counted double with Freddy Maertens leading in the chasers...
We've sadly lost some greats in recent months, including Brian Robinson, Ercole Baldini and Davide Rebellin as well. Rebellin certainly a tragic loss and denied a well-earned retirement as long as his countryman Baldini.
May they all rest in peace. Their exploits on the bicycle live on.
