I’m sure it’ll work fine.
I built a Cervelo S5 a couple of years ago for my son with a Campy mechanical group.
The frame accepted both mechanical and electronic, but I was getting a lot of shifting problems from the internal cables.
I wound up bypassing the internal cable design and just pushed the whole cable and housing through the frame as you described and everything worked great.
