cleaning up the front end - cantilever brakes

i recently switched from a stem with an integrated cable stop to one without a cable stop. obviously that required getting one of those headset spacer mounted stops. it wasnt anything special, just something i grabbed from the bins at the co-op. my only requirements at first was that it was black and 1/8”.
if i put the hanger directly on top of the top of the chris king faceplate thing, it doesnt sit flush. if i put a spacer between the two, then the hanger sits flush, but then even with the flexible brake noodle theres a crazy aggressive bend in the brake cable. also the od of the hanger doesnt match my spacers.
does anyone have a more elegant solution? my fork is not drilled at the crown so those are out of the question.
