It would not be M4, you need to measure the cross section of the actual bolt.
Bolts are measured according to width of the bolt, thread pitch, and length. You have the length, you need to get the width of the threaded portion of the bolt. I would guess it to be M6/7/8 for a seatpost, sometimes smaller on two bolt posts, but can't be sure if that is what you have or not without seeing it..
