A bike hook that hinges is the best use of space. You can build your own or get something like the feedback sports hook (rotates 90°) or steadyracks (180°).
I have a couple of steadyracks, which were quite expensive to be honest. The hinges allow the bikes to rotate away from the adjacent bikes, making loading and unloading much easier.
