I find the current trend of reducing tire clearance by 5mm to 7mm on gravel bikes and calling them "all-road" bikes amusing. We're basically back to the same thing that they called a gravel bike in 2016. I just always find it funny that, for me, a cross bike was an "all-road" bike when I started riding.. mind you, 35mm cross tires were "big", but still.. my cross bikes back in the late 2000s were probably the most comfy and capable bikes I've owned.. had an extra set of cheap wheels and rode anything I wanted, including most, not too gnarly, single track in San Diego..
