For those willing to break the mold, campy 11 shifters work with any shimano 9 speed RD (classic rando setup back in the day). Works better than campy campy honestly. I rode 11 brifters with a 9speed MTB RD for years and never had a single issue, and never had to adjust silly barrels. Worth it if you want that 11-42 gearing in the rears.
I'm also running 2015 chorus RD with 2017 chorus brifters with no issues right now. Some say the new design of the new RD's only work with the new shifters but that's a myth fwiw.
