Inexpensive calipers are available nowadays, though the reading I've done suggests repeatability is a problem.

Does anyone have experience with inexpensive skinfold calipers? Good, bad, or otherwise?
If your purpose is to track body fat percentage look for more modern methods. I've done several in the past with varying results. Dexa scan is what I'll likely use going forward as it's cheap and easy to find in the city.

Fwiw, any at home method is probably not worth buying.
