I guess the driver bears no responsibility. It's not reckless driving. It's a "bike crash"
Also keep in mind that the quote above was from the coach's agent, who most likely did not actually witness the crash. Since the news reporter has no way to ascertain the actual party at fault, it is correct to use a neutral verb such as "crash" to describe the incident. The verb used in reporting may change when more facts become known.
