Mmmm, yeah, that's basically me, although I do like having more than 6 or 7 cogs in back and integrated brake/shift levers (I updated some components).

Well, in general, newer is better - bikes, cars, etc. But not always. And oftentimes you end up paying for vanishingly small returns.
