(There is also talk about Haaland) to soothe supporters (and in this case, I suspect, even more important to keep Messi happy). Messi wants to have a good team behind him, but he also doesn't like to be challenged as the alpha of the team. These two might fit the job description, to be fair. Still, Alaba is very used to winning silverware and Haaland will pick his next employer also on chances of winning titles etc, and I don't know if the current Barca fits that profile, the name only carries so far.
