I've used my CX bike for dirt roads but I can't that say I'm totally happy with it. The higher BB makes it feel somewhat odd IMO.....like I'm riding 'on top' of it rather than 'in' it. Strange as it may be it doesn't feel the same way on pavement.
I'd been toying with getting something purpose built but hadn't committed myself. After 3 days at NAHBS and more than one conversation with Steve H., I was only home for a couple of days before I sent him my measurements. I'll have a Strada Bianca this summer that will have direct mount Paul Racer M brakes.
