AXS Compatibility: Will 10-26 work w/ Max 36t RD?

SRAM indicates that that 10-26 will only work with the Max 33t RD, however has anyone tried it with a Max 36t RD?

Why wouldn't it work? It's obviously capable of managing that amount of chain slack from shifting since it'll cover 10-26 as it moves down (up?) to the 33 and 36t cogs.

I'm not sure why it wouldn't work, but SRAM doesn't list the 10-26 as being compatible with the Max 36t RD.

Max 33t: 10-26, 10-28, 10-33
Max 36t: 10-28, 10-33, 10-36

Just curious if anyone has ever tried it?!?

It could be that the upper pulley of the RD travels at a different angle between the two versions. If the 36t version travels at a steeper angle, it may be that the upper pulley will end up too far away, vertically, from the 26t cog at the end of its travel. SRAM may feel that it won't shift well enough in that case.

I've never tried it, the above is pure speculation on my part. But, it's a possible reason why it's not listed as compatible.

I wouldn't let that stop me from trying it though.

Not AXS but they had the same limit on the Mid-Cage mechanical 11speed derailleur. I'm now running a mid cage 1x (supposed to be 11-28 to 11-36 cassettes) with an 11-25 on my Look and having no issues.

Most likely it will work. The 33T capacity model works with a 10-36, but the B gap must be set at 3mm instead of 5mm. Otherwise the 10-11 shift won't work well. If there's a problem with the 36T capacity, it would probably be at the 10-11.

I haven't but I'll chime in..looking at the stated capacities and overlap...I don't see why 2t less on the big end wouldn't work with the 'max36t' rear der...BUT, don't speak sram...
