Is there a "standard" 1" road fork that people use for threadless conversion?
 
I've put a bit into this bike lately, so I'd like to really finish it off with a 1" threadless conversion. Is there a standard fork (25mm tires) for these types of road conversions?

1991 Trek 2100 Pro. All the Shimano 1055 replaced with DuraAce 7800. Vittoria Quarano 46 wheelset.

I found a NOS Time Stiletto with a full uncut one inch steer tube for conversion 1" threaded to 1" threadless semi recently. I can verify it fits a 28mm tire too.

I think I was lucky to find it personally. Few and far between.

You can still get wound ups i think in road threadless 1" if you don't mind the look and precise instant steering response. I took a threaded 1" wound up off to put the Stiletto on FWIW.

Not a standard per say, but I used an origin8 fork (alu steerer) on my vintage cannondale

A Kestrel 1" be a good choice if you can find one long enough. And want to ride a 25 year old fork that isn't steel. Most will have a solid aluminum crown and not be much lighter than a steel for IMO.

I'd find a new 1" straight steel fork on eBay myself for that...
Make sure of the crown ream though... if 27mm, race fit will be an issue...

If that were my bike, I would go wound up. The appearance isn’t for everyone, but I think it would look great on that bike.

I have a Kestrel 1" threadless carbon fork that's a hair too short for my 60-62cm bikes, if you're interested. And my local bike co-op had a 1" threadless Time fork if/when they open back up.

Do you know what the fork rake is on the fork you have now? Would be best to match it pretty closely.

How much steerer tube do you need? I've got an aero cervelo fork I bought a couple years ago but miscalculated the steerer tube I'd need for my frame at the time. Id be happy to send pictures!

I put a Columbus Minimal Carbon 1” fork on my Merckx Corsa Extra when I rebuilt it with modern components. Rides great!

A builder can make a steel one that will match your existing fork. I've got a steel GT that was an old Team Shaklee frame with a GT Edge threaded carbon fork. David Cheakas at Southwest Frameworks built a threadless steel fork that maintained the great handling. It wasn't that expensive.

Not sure I can afford a Wound Up but those look amazing

Kestrel looks promising

The one on Wiggle looks really good IMO too.

Just curious and looking to get up to speed in building up old frames. What are the advantages of converting a 1” headset to a threadless. How does this affect the stem? Is the intent to get a more modern fork?

I seem to have a lot of "flex through the bars". I'm assuming that's because of the fork to adapter to stem process, so I'd like to go witha modern setup
