Talk me into, or out of, keeping this bike

I am able to set up all my contact point on this frame. The only issue is the standover height is 1 cm higher than bottom of my crotch.

The only way I can think to drop standover height is to switch to 650b wheels. For those of you who understand these calculations:

• The bike is currently running 700x32. What is the largest tire I could run on 650b and still get the standover to drop by 2 cm?
• What will happen to the trail number?
• How high should the BB be running the 700x32 tires to be safe to drop it 2 cm?

Last, is this a viable solution, or should I just get a bike with less standover height?

Why do you care at all about 1 cm (3/8") of standover, if eveything else fits fine?

you asked...so here we go...just keep it...you plan on standing over it a lot? Things get pretty anal here about exact things and exact fit etc...if it works as a good ride and you like the frame then keep it...if it's going to bother you forever, find a custom builder and pay for that via your exact measurements...just don't have any slight body changes as you get older...

Bothered me enough to sell a Lyon that otherwise was a great fit and ride.
Used it for 2 years before I decided to move it on. Still looking for a replacement.
Build it up and see how it works for you. Can always pass it on later.

I would keep it! That is a very nice bike and set up and you haven't had any viable offers. I have seen it up for sale for a while and can't believe nobody picked it up!

As far as 650b goes I would imagine a 38mm should fit maybe even 42mm, but it will change some of the ride characteristics for sure and not positive of where you'd be height wise. Have you tried riding it with some 25-28mm tires? Not that it will add a lot of drop, but may put you in a comfortable standover compared to the 32mm?

Bikes are for riding, not straddling.

Did you need the tall frame to get the top tube length you required?

Was this a stock size frame YOU chose?

I say, sell the frame and get a DeSalvo with a sloping top tube as they are offered with their stock sizes so you won't have to pay a custom upcharge. It will give you 2cm more standover. You'll feel like you never left home.

He's not saying the standover is 1 cm too tall. It's 1 cm taller than his pubic bone height. That's too tall.
