Centaur vs Potenza 32-11 Cassette
 

Anyone know the difference between the Centaur and Potenza 11sp 32-11 cassettes ??

Nothing..looking at the spare parts catalog, Potenza is 'labeled' Campagnolo 11s and Centaur 'labeled' Centaur 11s' but same part numbers, CS-411, etc..

Same with the 11s chain, labeled 'Campagnolo 11s'...

ah, so campy just pulling a fast one on you? Pretty sure the centaur is $20 cheaper.

Is there a 12-32? Maybe IRD? Shimano? Don't have much use for a 11 tooth...and with 12, middle range can be closer together.

Checking at the UK sites, it seems that the Centaur is loose cogs, and the Potenza has the largest three pinned. Potenza is a bit lighter.

If the Centaur is loose cogs, could one conceivably replace the 29 on a 10 speed cassette with the 32? Or, drop one cog, and use 10 speed spacers to make a 10 speed version?

I couldn't find the ratios of the new 12-32t 11s Centaur cassette online, only this 11-32t cassette.
Does anyone know where the 12-32t cassette's ratios might be listed?
I'm guessing that they simply added a 16t cog in the middle of this cassette's spread and removed the 11t, but would like to be sure about this.

Centaur seems like a good and affordable 11s grouppo option, and is even offered in silver or black, with just one cage size now handling every cassette!

Thanks, lookout2015, I can deal with that so am looking hard for a Black Friday deal on a centaur gruppo, or just the levers, cassette and derailers.

In my later 50's so I could do without ever having to climb Iowa hill from the river in a 39x26t again!

Campag lists a 12-32/11s also..CS-412

I'd make sure that was 11s..the Campag catalog shows 11s 'Campag' and 'Centaur' as the last 3 cogs pinned together.

This is true. I can confirm that the Centaur 11-32 11 speed cassette that I have has the last 3 cogs pinned together. They are not loose cogs like my Veloce 9 cassettes. Good Luck!

So basically the Centaur and Potenza 11-32 cassettes are the same.. Then I guess its a no brainer which one to buy.

I asked this question because I bought an 11-32 cassette earlier this year to put on my pre 2015 SR equipped bike.. and the box from Campy just said 11 speed cassette.. ie no gruppo name. Works great.. but will be needing to replace it soonish as I ride quite a bit.. So I guess I will buy the centaur one to put on the shelf..

Since Centaur is brand new and to 11s, I think Campag's labeling and pricing needs to 'catch up'..But yes, same cogset but 'Centaur' one is cheaper(?)...
