Tom Schuler's Murray team bike built by Serotta
https://www.facebook.com/RLBcycle/po...07057732800756
$2,200 I thought Schuler rode for 7-Eleven during the earlier Schwinn/Murray days but maybe I am wrong. https://scontent-ort2-2.xx.fbcdn.net...67&oe=5ED6AD3C This is a 1985 7-Eleven Cycling Team bike which was once owned by the legendary, U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame inductee Tom Schuler. Schuler represented the United States at the 1976 and 1980 Summer Olympics and was one of the original seven members of the 7-Eleven Cycling Team. He was the 1987 USPRO national road champion and the 1981 US professional criterium champion. SPECS: Frame: Columbus SLX, chromed stays, forged Campagnolo dropouts w/Murray pantographs Fork: Columbus SLX, chromed, forged Campagnolo dropouts w/Murray pantographs Front derailleur: Campagnolo Rear derailleur: Dura AceShifters: Campagnolo downtube shifters Crankset: Campagnolo Strada 170mm 53/42 teeth Rear Freewheel: Shimano 600 13,14,16,18,20,22 teeth Brake Calipers: Campagnolo Brake levers: Campagnolo (engraved "MURRAY" on the lever handles) w/Weinmann hoods Wheel rims: Wolber Aspin Super Champion Tubulars (w/7-Eleven label) Wheel hubs: Campagnolo Tires: Aged tubulars (still serviceable and holds air) Seat Post: Campagnolo fluted forged alloy Stem: Cinelli long neck Handlebars: Cinelli 66-42 Headset: Campagnolo Bottom Bracket: Campagnolo - "Cinelli" stamped on the bottom of the shell Saddle: Turbo perforated leather (white) Pedals : none Measurements: 58cm (from the center of the crank to the top of the seat tube) 56cm (center-to-center) 56cm (top tube center-to-center) 32" (top tube stand over height) Cosmetically, it is a well-used bike with some pitting and surface corrosion on the chromed surfaces. Paint nicks throughout the frame and one cosmetic ding on the top tube (See picture #10 - it's not significant enough to affect the frame's integrity). Some old paint touch-ups present. The decals and letterings show some wear. Mechanically, it needs a new chain, one of the jockey wheels on the rear derailleur has been replaced and it could use an overhaul of all the bearings. Nothing is "stuck" on the bike - everything moves freely. The bike is rideable as it is but no restoration work has been done to preserve its originality and history. The bike is being offered as a functioning display piece. |
I was going to say this, the 54 sloping is a fit like a 58 ish... 54 fit in sloping c50 is like a 51 ish.
