A friend's mom had a Detomaso Mangusta in the garage when I was a kid. I never saw it running.

My dad bought a workshop/storage building about 10 years ago. He took possession to start doing some work on it before the previous owner got all of his stuff out of it. There was a DeLorean DMC-12 in there that I enjoyed messing around with for an afternoon.

The one in my garage is pretty darn rare if no obscure. At last check this is one of fewer than 5 in the USA of this model.

Westfield Mega S2000.

But the local junk yard as a Borgward Isabella if my car won't do.

Most obscure means to me most exotic & rare. That would have to be the Ferrari Enzo.

Oddly enough, for a while McLaren MP4-12C was fairly commonplace seen along Route 25A along the Gold Coast of Long Island. 25A, also known as Northern Boulevard, stretches from almost the North Fork of LI to the 59th Street Bridge LIC. None of the nice cars are ever driven west of Roslyn (unless it's to go shopping at the American Manhasset). This was a few years ago.

In town, Ferraris are commonplace, parked on the street no less. Nobody looks, nobody cares - here cars are only important to the bridge & tunnel crowd.

When I was a kid, a local car dealer has some Bricklin SV-1's on their lot.

Somebody else in my home town often drove around in their Saab Sonnett III:

On my normal ride route, along the Pinellas Trail, I spotted a car I couldn't identify. Another rider friend lives in the area and stopped and talked to the owner.

1961 Facel Vega Facellia Convertible - original motor replaced with a Ford 302 V8.

Not an exotic, but quite rare and not something most people have seen.

If I don't count the Invictas, Blower Bentleys, Moss works-300SL, Alfa Zagatos, Maserati150, 300 and 450, Gordinis and Cisitalias I saw while stumbling upon a "mille miglia" while cycling the Lago di Garda-area once, that would be the Lancia Stratos I saw once parked in the neighborhood. Or maybe the Facel Vega HK500 owned by a popular club owner downtown. Also, I worked for a time close to the BMW "classics" department and ran into their 507 once or twice at a gas station nearby.
Most unexpected encounter was a huge 8l prewar Bentley that passed us once on our Saturday training ride. Also saw a Porsche Kübelwagen in the same area.

TVRs were always an attraction back in my youth. Never owned one, but always wanted one.

Real AC Cobras (not kit cars).

I stupidly passed on the opportunity to own a Fiat Dino about 30 years ago when I could have had it cheap!

A few years back there was a mechanic who rented a corner of Little Foreign Car Garage, just around the corner from Wheelworks. His job was to work on Peter Sachs' vintage formula 1 cars - it's a good gig if you can get it. If there was a car in Claud's shop, you knew that was the only place you were ever going to see one.

Other than that, it would have to be the Messerschmitt coupe that a guy owns a couple of blocks from me.

I would say the Matra-Simca is the most "out there" car I have come across on my normal routes ...

Fellow down the street toodles around in a TVR Grantura II. It's pretty rare.

Don't remind me of the 15000€ Lancia flaminia convertible superleggera touring I didn't buy...

I've seen a couple of these cars in the wild! But you probably can't get parts in a few years....

Funny, outside of a car show/meet (doesn't quite seem fair) mine is the same. I've got a friend with a Mangusta. His is nearly perfect.
