It’s not a character flaw

Lance wasnt that fast. Character isnt the issue.

Right, I think we are in agreement here, and I’m not pushing back on you, but on the general sports talk narrative.

I dislike the idea that Bol will be called lazy because he will struggle to put on muscle.

LOL Knicks.

Don’t understand signing Horford to 4 years on a team with Ben, Tobias and JoJo.

Good riddance 35.
Your ring count stops at two.

Is this the general sentiment among GSW fans?

I don’t get this either. Maybe they thought they could get Brogdon too? Does the money even work there?

Who are their best 5? I have real concerns about their offense without Redick’s gravity.

No, but I’m glad KD left so we can retain Klay draymond and Steph for the future but Iguodala being traded is a huge what the ......

I don’t get this move. Get a reserve all star and move Klay to SF???

Or is he a stop gap for Klay and Dlo gets traded. We got rid of one of the only defense guys on the team and a mastermind of the game. Just wow

Probably not since him staying means super team for future years if he rehabs well.

Yes my team winning is great but personally just tired of the circus he had become

How/why did Bol Bol fall so far in the draft?

Because the Blazers weren't going to fall for the big guy with lower body issues, again and again and again?

I kinda understand NBA players wanting to promote their own brand, play with their friends, etc., but I'm not a fan. I have more respect for players who try to win with the team that drafted them.

I think both the Iggy move and the DLo move were acknowledgements that they don't expect to really contend this year, and they are moving pieces around to be ready for 20-21.

Iggy is a great final piece for a team that is all-in on a title. A playoff player. If that's not you, then you're looking at $17M for 55-65 games of 25ish minutes a night. His value isn't getting any higher, he's not getting younger, it's fair to ask how much he could contribute in 2021. GSW needs the picks in the future and the cap room right now. As for Iggy, he'll get bought out or traded by the Griz as there is no way they are paying the tax in a tank/lottery year, and end up on a contender (maybe the Lakers or Rockets?)

The DLo trade is all about Steve Kerr imagining Steph Curry with a Russell Westbrook level usage rate, shouldering a tremendous load as the single offensive creator on a team of G-league marginals and vet minimum types, and deciding he didn't want put those miles on Steph. As a basketball fan, I'm a little disappointed we won't see Steph averaging 38 this year, but we will get the consolation prize of DLo dribbling into a contested 18 foot stepback as Steph rockets off a pindown into what should be an open 3 pointer. I expect much consternation, eye-rolling and mouthguard chewing from Mr. Curry.

The draft and the implications thereof are pretty interesting. Is there any industry besides pro sports where the best talent - multimillion dollar talent - isn't given a choice on where they work for they first several years of their career? Where they are later judged on their "loyalty" or lack thereof to a place they didn't choose?

Good essay by the always thoughtful Kevin Arnovitz here.

jacobslide 07-01-2019 10:59 AM

Have to imagine that the DLo trade is just the beginning.

Andre only had a year left and was all but assured to retire, so it sucks but it was going to happen sooner or later.

What's really going to get me though, is if they can't retain Looney.

I think DLo will get traded, either between now and the time he signs, or in 6 months, to the Wolves. But, we shall see. He's still only 23.
