I am reluctant to sell this beatuiful bike, but my job is taking me overseas and I won't be able to enjoy it any longer and I want a cycling enthusiast to have it.

This is a rare opportunity to grab a piece of cycling history while le Tour de France is underway. This 1999-2000 era Cannondale CAAD 4 SAECO team edition race bike is one of the last racing bike series that Cannondale handbuilt in the USA. The frame is made from the legendary CAAD 4 aluminum with a SLICE custom carbon fork.

This bike was made for one of the most infamous lead out trains in pro cycling during the era led by the master sprinter Mario Cipolinni. Sponsored by the premium SAECO brand of Italian espesso machines, the hot red only made sense. It was on these bikes that Cipolinni and his chain gang won 4 consecutive stages in the 1999 Tour de France, with Mario proclaiming to the TV camera "Cannondale makes the best bikes!". This led to cult status for the american bike builder .

I am the second owner of this particular bike. The first owner unfortunately rode it only a few times due to health reasons but was a cycling historian in his own right. I personlly have only ridden the bike a handful of times before putting it on my wall. It is 100% original aside from the new tires and bottle cages. All decals sponsor correct to the team at the time, all of which are on the seat and chainstays. The components, frame and all aspects of the bike look and work like new.

Here is a list of the components:

-Original Campagnolo Record groupset (crankset, fornt and rear derailleurs, rim brakes, carbon brake levers and cassette) People are asking $2,000 just for this groupset on ebay.

Original Camapagnolo aero seatpost
Gold Mavic Open Pro wheelset handmade in France with original decals.
-Slice "engineered by Cannondale" Made by Time custom carbon fork.

Original Cinelli Sesamo 26.0 aluminum stem. Two tone red and silver with unique two part design.
-Cinelli Nerve handlebars

LOOK PP396 clipless pedals with adjustable float function. (Will include appropriate LOOK cleats with purchase).
Gold TIME hubs that match the gold wheelset and make a very beautiful sound.
Orignial Selle Italia Flite Titanium saddle.
Original cane Creek C2 headset.
Original CODA USA hub skewers.
-Sponsor decals on seat and chainstays.

-Serial number on bottom bracket.

NEW Vittoria Corsa Contorol Graphene 2.0 tires 25mm.
NEW ultralite bottlecages.

Medici Pro Strada frameset for sale
$300$350
Note: Offered to me at $250 In Sacremento sort of close to me
Details
Condition
Used - like new
Have a very nice 56cm (center of the bottom bracket to the top of the seat tube) Medici Pro Strada frameset for sale. Frame was ordered by the original owner with no decals on it. Tubing is Tange Prestige and dropouts are Campagnolo. Top tube measures 56 cm (center of the head tube to center of the seat tube) and bottom bracket is Italian threads. Paint is near perfect with just a couple of small chips that could easily be touched up. Rear brake cable is internal routing and seatpost size is standard 27.2. Fork is 1" threaded and takes a standard headset. I also have a new set of Medici Pro Strada decals from Velocals to go with it. Frame has a slack seat tube which would be nice for long rides. I never built this up, but I'll wager it rides great (like most older steel bikes do). Not sure about the mileage but looks very low.

$300/Offer

I don't have a FB account so I'm posting this on my wife's. Thanks for looking. Don

Sounds like a bike guy selling it (so you would think this wouldn't be an issue), but it bigs me when someone just says "it's a 55cm" and don't provide any other details.. not the worst if the brands website sheds some light on the numbers, but there in no info in this case (says all bikes are custom, if I got the right website).. why would anyone take a chance on $2,200 bike with that minimal of info?

BTW- I imagine it's a 55 square from the pics, but..

I'll willing to bet 99.9% of the bike riding folks don't need to know anything more than it's a 55cm frame.

Yes I messaged the guy about the 3D bike and no response as of yet. If you are looking at that one, here’s one that I have been kicking around which has a bit better build:

58cm Colnago C40 Mapei with full DA 7700 for $1k OBO. Fork was replaced with an Easton, and 1" Stars are hard to find, but the frame alone is worth it and then some.

Yeah that has been listed locally awhile. The "original fork lost in a crit crash" has been enough to keep me away.

Definitely a caution point. If the seller did indeed ride it recreationally for some time after racing it as claimed, I suspect the frame is alright pending a thorough inspection

The "original" elbow skin was also lost. :)

I would guess that frame hasn't been raced in a long, long time. Most racers get upgrade-itis pretty fast.
