brakes that clear 32s with 11sp shimano lever cable pull ratio
 

I recently moved my Serotta Rapid Tour from a 7800 groupset to a r8000/9000 set, and while the 7800 brakes cleared these tires/wheels (RH 32mm extralights + velocity quills; measured width 33mm) pretty easily, the two pivots on the r8000 brakes come a little too close to the shoulders of the tire for me to feel comfortable with (see attached pictures).

So for now I've put the 7800 brakes back on and while they stop me, the modulation feels off and in general they pale in comparison to when they were paired with the 7800 levers.

Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for brakes that would clear these tires and play well with the updated shimano lever cable pull ratio? How do the velo orange grand cru or TRP long/mid reach brakes feel with these levers? Are there any shimano options that don't have the protruding pivots? I'm looking for something that provides the same feel/performance as a matched set of shimano 11sp levers/brakes.

I believe the 7900 Dura Ace calipers have the "latest" pull ratio but do not have the protuberances in the arch that 5800/6800/9000/7000/8000/9100 have.

I use 7900 calipers on my Rapid Tour and they clear 32mm (Conti GP5000) comfortably.

I used Dura Ace 9100 Shifters with Velo Grand Cru Brakes, using 32-35mm tires, and had no problems. The brake pull was just fine from my perspective and I didn’t notice any difference from other rim brake set ups.

I had 35s under earlier gen DA brakes. Ones without those centerpull-esque bumps at 10 and 2 o'clock.

Realizing that the brakes I'm referencing are 7800. I used them with Ultegra 10s, so now I know that doesn't help you at all.

Further edit: are you using good pads? Swisstop BXP are my favorite and in my small-handed world, they make for better modulation.

Thanks for the responses, they have been helpful. I'm using kool stop salmon pads, which have been awesome in every application I've tried them in so far - the feel is just off with the levers here. The current setup stops me fine, and if I hadn't experienced these brakes with the previous levers I'm sure I'd say they were great - but I know it can be better. I'm going to take Look585's suggestion and try out a set of 7900 calipers.

What an awesome forum this is - I came here with a very niche question, and get a response within half an hour from someone with first-hand experience of the exact same situation - same frame, same levers, same size tires, same brakes - this is pretty great.

trp957 and Shimano 11sp levers work perfectly.

SRAM Force AXS calipers.

These are not technically optimized for the Shimano lever pull, but they work great together, and have the best tire clearance of any short reach caliper I know of. This is what I'd do.

Does the 6800 levers have the same pull as 7900? If they’ll work with the Force AXS brakes, I wouldn’t mind picking up a pair.

I just wanted to post a follow-up and a big thank you to Look585 - I picked up a pair of 7900 calipers and they have more clearance than the 7800 calipers I had on before, and way more clearance than the r8000 brakes I was afraid to run. They clear these 32s comfortably, brake just as well as I'd expect dura ace brakes to brake (i.e., excellently), and the lever pull feels just right.
