What are your thoughts on the Oliver fork versus a carbon cx fork for a bike like this?

Too early to tell, but I did find the carbon cx fork to be overly stiff on my other bike. This bike is an experiment. It isn't a gravel grinder, more of a gravel smoother.

That's an optical illusion, sadly.

Wide-rim 3T wheels (~19mm internal width) with a silver brake track, then modern Conti 4000's, nominally 25mm, 27mm actual on those rims. That's the widest she fits. I think the silver brake track somehow makes it look bigger.

Smooth dirt is okay, but nothing rougher.

That's cool you are still riding that. Greg actually REALLY loves titanium and steel for bike frames. We were in talks with him to do titanium and carbon so he had all three back when I was with Guru. With Zen closing, we would've picked up the steel as well.

That's cool; I'm still a fan from the '89-'91 days. I got into cycling in '87, so he and Andy are my earliest heroes. I met Andy at Eroica California last year and had the luxury to ride with him for a little while. It would be fun to meet Greg at some point down the road.

If it could fit 28-30mm, it would still be my #1, rather than its current #2 position. I'm flirting with the idea of commissioning a custom Ti bike to replace it with the same geometry but built for medium-reach brakes to accommodate 32's, paired with the new Whiskey fork. (The roads around here suck... I've ridden better dirt roads.) And, frankly, I just like metal frames.

Anyone have polished Ti? I've always liked the look, but am aware of the painstaking process to polish and upkeep entailed :(

I just posted mine:

http://forums.thepaceline.net/showpo...&postcount=743

It's a polished Litespeed Classic. I just keep it clean and let it develop its patina at its own rate. It still looks decent from a distance :D

I used to own a polished Ultimate. Sold it years ago.

Hard to see but that one is not a solid color, it shifts in various shades over the saddle, which i prefer on brown. All very similar to each other ofc just various degrees of dark brown. A nice gentleman called Mick in Austalia aka Busyman cycles did them. Ive had 3 recovered and they were all beautifully done!

No22 Broken Arrow CX bike that also goes for rides around the city.
This thing is stiff and corners like it's on rails.
