There's a way to practice those that help a lot for drawing fundamentals in general. They are called contour drawings where you look at your subject and create line drawings without looking at the paper. It helps a lot to get a sense of form and how the line works suggestively. I usually do it as a warm up technique etc. (back when I actually had time to do fine art on the side).

As for your drawing, keep it up because that looks great. Also, as far as not "being an artist" - everyone is an artist, most have just put it aside for most of their adult lives.
