Della Santa

To all,

I am going to get my Della Santa repaint and put all new parts on it.

Here is my dilema.

Plan A: used etap in a box from my Serotta.
Plan B: to sell the etap and use the money for a new group of Chorus.

Thoughts?

Moreover, I talked to Roland a few weeks ago, he is NOT busy now. If you have not ridden his frame before, you should really try it. His price is cheap in today's term ($2000 for frame/fork and one color paint).

Thx,
Ron

Chorus, all the way.

Wish I had the cash for a new Della Santa right now.

Mechanical

Campy all the way. That bike deserves a mechanical group!

Sounds like I will sell my etap.

Who are you going to get to repaint the frame. I have a Della Santa that I got in 1996 that could use a paint job.

It is also tempting to have him build a new one too :-)

The correct answer is always Campy

How about Jim Allen who does them for Roland now?

Well yes that would seem to be the place to go. If he's good enough for Roland he's going to be good enough for me.

Tony,

I would suggest you contact Roland first if you have any repair/changes you want to make before a repaint from Jim Allen.

For example, this frame is made for 53/39 and Roland is going to move it down to 50/34 position.

Also, get a pump made and paint while you are at it. You will not regret it and you will be popular because of the frame pump.

Amen to that.

Chorus it is.

Oh shoot I forgot all about the front hanger! I would have forgot all about that! I'd probably ask if I could just go to a clamp. I can see myself going back and forth between 52/36 and 50/34.

Thanks.

etap all the way and I am a campy guy. Etap is just an awesome group set and will look so classy on that classy bike.

Lol, I picked up a used DS in excellent condition and ran into the same dilemma! I have etap on my Trek Madone and love it. But for me it came down to money. An etap “group” (shifters, FD and RD) was $1300; in contrast I got the same Chorus component for under $500. Further, got a good deal on a SR crankset, so Campy it is!

Of course, YMMV!

Good Luck!

I think Roland would be satisfied to see either on one of his frames. If you do go eTap, I'd get the shifting cable guides removed.

I've got Record/Super Record 11 on mine right now, and kicking around the 12 speed upgrade at some point.

I don't have photos but the way mine is built it has downtube shifters AND an SRM.

When I was racing my buddies always gave me chit about that.
